AMMREN-Plus

AMMREN has expanded its work beyond its original focus and is now involved in other health issues of relevance to Africa beyond malaria under its AMMREN-Plus initiative.  AMMREN-Plus is running along side AMMREN.

TRAIN

AMMREN trains African journalists to report effectively on malaria and other diseases and to interpret scientific data. We build capacity of scientists and researchers to work effectively with the media. AMMREN has trained over 300 African journalists and student journalists to report effectively on malaria and health in general.

    AMMREN publishes the eyes on malaria magazine. The flagship magazine breaks down scientific data and research findings into simple language. AMMREN has published over 18 editions of its flagship magazine.

    AMMREN organizes outreach programmes to distribute treated mosquito nets and to educate communities and vulnerable groups on malaria prevention and control methods and other diseases and what they can do to reduce the burden of diseases

    AMMREN partners with organizations working on malaria globally such as the RBM Partnership to End Malaria, National Malaria Elimination Programmes, Health Research and Academic Institutions, and civil society organizations to push the malaria elimination agenda.

      Bellagio Conference Center, Italy

      In June 2015, AMMREN organized a conference at the Bellagio Conference Center, Italy on developing a strategic media framework to consolidate gains in the fight against malaria and position Africa for the RTS, S malaria vaccine

      Capacity Building and Strategic Planning workshops for journalists in Ghana, Kenya and Tanzania

      2009 MIM Conference, Nairobi

      Twelve members of AMMREN covered the 2009 MIM Conference held in Nairobi, Kenya in November, 2009. Over 20 articles were written and widely distributed.

      WHO Regional Committee for Africa, Lusaka 2025

      AMMREN participated in the 75th Session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa, held in Lusaka from 25–27 August 2025. As a recognised non-state actor of WHO-AFRO, AMMREN was granted the platform to deliver two official statements
